Does Coffee Help You Lose Weight?

When I was in college and first starting to drink coffee, the professor who taught us that coffee cleans your system, sent us in a box with some powdered coffee in a brown paper bag to our dorm room. This was my first exposure to the famous "I'm going to have a cup of coffee" or "I'm going to have a tea" or "I'm going to have a cigarette" statement. I'm not sure how many times I've repeated those phrases since then and can honestly say that it has become a bit of an urban legend. Coffee is certainly not evil or anything, it's just something that you need to give up if you want to lose weight. Let me explain why. There are several types of antioxidants in coffee, including polyphenols and decaffeinated arginine. Both of these are considered to be good antioxidants. The polyphenols have been associated with preventing cancer while the decaffeinated arginine has been shown to reduce the risk of developing diabetes. So does thi

A number of people have been asked the question: does coffee help you lose weight? A lot of people will tell you that yes it will. But I would say just the opposite. In this article I am going to explain why you should not even drink your daily cup of coffee if you want to lose weight.

The first reason is that drinking coffee is very expensive. There are two types of caffeine; a low-phenol and a high-phenol coffee. The low-phenol has more anti-oxidants than the high-phenol coffee but both contain the same amount of calories. So it seems that it is the high-phenol coffee that helps you lose weight. Now, there is some controversy surrounding this claim, but I will not mention it here since it is full of possible contaminants.

The second reason coffee helps you lose weight is that it contains a large number of antioxidants. Some people argue that antioxidants can neutralize the excess radicals in our bodies, but no one has yet found evidence to prove this. So we can leave this controversy alone for now. Either way, any antioxidants found in coffee are good for your health.

The third reason coffee cleanse is that it may reduce the risk of developing some cancers and heart diseases. A lot of doctors believe that the high-phenol content in coffee is responsible for this. However, they have not found enough evidence to support this claim. In fact, many researchers are now saying that maybe the coffee cleanse really doesn't do anything at all.

The fourth reason why you shouldn't drink your daily cup of coffee is that it might cause you to develop oral cancer. This is the claim that has been making the rounds for the last few years. The results of some studies show that drinking only a small amount of coffee each day can reduce the risk of oral cancer, but even the strongest proponents of a coffee cleanse admit that more research is still needed to support this.

The fifth reason to stay away from coffee is that it can interfere with the use of other beneficial herbs like the Chinese wolfberry or the Mexican pomegranate. Both of these herbs are powerful antioxidants that can protect your body from free radicals. If you happen to drink only a cup of coffee a day, the antioxidants may be depleted already. So instead of taking those high antioxidants, go with something higher in phytochemicals like the pomegranate.

Another way to lose weight and cut coffee out of your diet is to switch to an herbal supplement. There are now a wide variety of weight loss supplements that can replace some or all of your coffee. One such supplement is made from the bitter orange fruit. You just chew a few pods of this fruit each day, and within a week, you will see a few pounds dropping off.

Switching to a diet rich in natural, whole foods is another good reason to consider cutting out coffee, though that is not the only reason. There are other things in your diet that may be causing you to gain weight. A lack of sleep is one such thing. If you can't get enough rest, your body will have no other choice but to hold on to every last calorie just to keep going.

Another reason to give up the cappuccino is its taste. I'm not talking about the bad, chemical-laden taste of coffee. I'm talking about the almost-too-sweet sweet flavor of regular coffee. Not only is regular coffee really expensive, you may find it difficult to keep up with all of the different types of flavored blends. You may like to drink a hazelnut coffee instead or something with a hint of cinnamon or chocolate in it.

One great thing you can do that will help you lose weight is to make sure you are getting lots of fiber. It has been shown that certain kinds of fiber will slow down your body's process of storing fat. That is why you want to make sure you are eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as whole grains, high-fiber foods like whole wheat bread and muffins, and dark leafy greens like kale and cabbage.

The good news is there is a lot of healthy stuff in coffee that most people don't think about. For example, did you know that coffee helps lower blood pressure and may even be good for your heart? Or that it helps with depression, anxiety, and memory loss? Or that it may even lower your risk of colon cancer? There are lots of things you may not realize that you can do that will help you lose weight in the short and long term if you start drinking green tea or other more natural blends instead of the chemically enhanced varieties.
